Unveiling of 2024 USA Skateboarding Gear and Shoes by Nike SB and Converse

Nike SB and Converse CONS have collaborated with professional skateboarder Alexis Sablone to craft the official skateboarding federation kits for the United States and Japan, alongside a distinct kit embodying the global skateboarding community’s essence.

This exclusive collection doesn’t stop at attire; it introduces two limited-edition footwear models: a fresh rendition of Alexis’ renowned Converse CONS AS-1 Pro and a complementary Nike SB Dunk Low.

Far from standardized, the 2024 federation kits epitomize the fusion of skateboarding’s flair, influence, and inclusivity, encouraging self-expression and individuality both on and off the board.

Alexis reflects, “Designing federation kits never crossed my mind initially. But then again, there was a time when skateboarding in the Olympics seemed unlikely. When I received the opportunity to design the kits, it felt right. I’m a skater, a designer, and an Olympian. Why not seize the chance?”

Fusing classic workwear elements with skateboarding insights, the collections reimagine conventional sportswear, offering athletes a broad spectrum of options and aesthetics to reflect their personal style.

Inspired by Alexis’ design expertise and years immersed in skate culture, the collections spotlight three key pieces intertwined with the broader narrative of sport and skateboarding: a bowler shirt, Parisian-influenced chore coat, and relaxed-fit denim pants.

“I aimed to create a range that caters to everyone’s style, from bold and graphic-heavy to subtle yet characterful pieces,” Alexis remarks.

For the USA and Japanese kits, Alexis crafted distinctive crests merging the countries’ iconography, colors, and skateboarding ethos with her signature postmodern style.

The USA crest pays homage to skateboarding’s origins in California, intertwining timeless American symbols with playful elements, reflecting the sport’s improvisational and experimental nature.

Alexis crafted a global crest, intertwining skateboarding and culture with chameleons, Earth illustrations, and orchids, symbolizing skateboarding’s transcendence and the universal bond among skateboarders.

These themes resonate throughout the footwear collection, featuring chameleon-inspired textures and color-changing leather in both styles.

The Nike SB 2024 federation kits and apparel collection launches on July 18 at select skate shops, while the Converse CONS AS-1 Pro and Nike SB Dunk Low will be available in an exclusive twin pack on August 22. Individual sales of both styles commence on August 29 through SNKRS, converse.com, and select skate shops.
