Hansae Co., Ltd. (KRX:105630), a prominent global fashion ODM/OEM company, clinched the esteemed ‘Corporate ESG Grand Prize’ at the ‘2023 K-ESG Management Awards.’

Conducted by the influential Korean daily newspaper ‘Dong-A Ilbo,’ this award recognizes organizations, public entities, local governments, and other Korean entities exemplifying outstanding ESG management practices and contributing to the promotion of a sustainable management culture.

At the 2023 K-ESG Management Awards Ceremony held on September 25th, 2023, the K-ESG Evaluation Committee meticulously selected winners through a rigorous four-stage review process, guided by the objective K-ESG indicators outlined by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. The awards were categorized into Comprehensive ESG, Environment, Society, and Governance.

Hansae emerged as the grand prize winner in the Comprehensive ESG sector for the ‘Manufacturing, Wholesale, and Import/Export of Textiles and Textile Products’ business division. The company garnered recognition for its distinctive ESG performance, including pioneering a circular economy in fashion, upholding human rights and diversity for employees, and effectively managing sustainability committees.

In pursuit of carbon neutrality by 2050, Hansae has implemented strategic plans encompassing enhancements in facility efficiency, installation of solar rooftop panels, adoption of renewable energy sources, procurement of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC), transitioning to electric vehicles, and implementing various measures to reduce carbon emissions across all business processes.

Since 2019, Hansae has been actively supporting environmental and fashion-focused NGOs and technology venture companies globally through its ‘10% for Good’ initiative. This includes entering into a business agreement with Recover™, a Spain-based upcycled fiber production company, in 2021. The company aims to expand eco-friendly production systems using upcycling technology in Vietnamese factories by the coming year and utilize upcycled raw materials for over 20% of clothing production after 2025.

In a recent development, Hansae signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hanosimex, a subsidiary of Vinatex, a Vietnamese state-run textile and garment company. This strategic collaboration strengthens the value chain for the production of recycled cotton garments.

As a global entity, Hansae fosters a corporate culture that values diversity among employees, emphasizing mutual trust and collaboration. In support of work-life balance, the company has operated an in-office daycare center since 2015, regularly organizing training sessions for working parents facilitated by external childcare experts.
