HanesBrands Achieves Significant Milestones in Advancing Sustainability Objectives for People, Planet, and Product

HanesBrands Inc., a renowned global leader in iconic apparel brands, has disclosed significant strides towards achieving its sustainability objectives in its 2023 Sustainability Summary Report. The report underscores remarkable progress towards meeting the 2025/2030 goals across the key pillars of People, Planet, and Product, spanning its esteemed brands such as Hanes, Champion, Bonds, Maidenform, and Bali.

In 2023, HanesBrands made impressive advancements, securing approval for its short-term science-based targets from the Science Based Targets initiative. Since 2019, the company has achieved a notable 53% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions and a 41% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 intensity. Additionally, substantial reductions have been made in water usage and packaging weight. The company is firmly on track to achieve zero waste across its operations by 2025 and to transition to 100% renewable electricity by 2030. Moreover, HanesBrands has continued its commitment to enhancing communities globally, positively impacting the lives of 3.4 million individuals since 2021. The company’s sustainability investments have resulted in $23 million in savings since establishing goals in 2020, with over $10 million saved in 2023 alone.

Moreover, HanesBrands has announced that thousands of its products are now part of Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly program, aiding consumers in identifying products with sustainability features on Amazon’s platform. To qualify for the program, select HanesBrands products underwent GreenCircle Certification, indicating manufacturing in facilities with significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions and utilization of renewable energy.
