Collaborative Event by ELC and M.A.C to Present Spelman College’s Convocation

On February 20, ELC partnered with Global Talent, M·A·C, and the Spelman Pathways Program to host Spelman College’s Convocation. This inaugural event marked ELC’s first time organizing Spelman College’s Convocation, featuring a series of on-campus activities for freshman students. The Convocation brought together Spelman alumnae from ELC, engaging with over 170 current students to explore career readiness strategies, gain insights into the beauty industry, and participate in a makeup application masterclass.

The event commenced with opening remarks by Mallory Butts, a Spelman student who interned at ELC during the summer. A panel discussion titled “Let’s Talk Beauty Presents: Crafting Your Career in the Beauty Industry” followed, featuring ELC Spelman alumnae Monique Davis, Vice President, Local & Cultural Innovation; Jasmin Courtney, Vice President, Global Brand Growth Intelligence & Marketing Strategy, M·A·C; Asha Harris, Executive Director, Global Marketing, Aveda; and LaTranda Irons, Executive Director, Organizational Effectiveness, North America.

Throughout the convocation, panelists shared their career journeys, emphasizing their roles in driving industry transformation, advocating for inclusion and equity, and fostering a sense of belonging within their teams. Key themes included the significance of representation, owning one’s voice, and developing innovative products to meet diverse consumer needs.

The day concluded with a M.A.C Masterclass led by Romero Jennings, Director of Makeup Artistry at M.A.C. Jennings demonstrated artistry techniques inspired by London Fashion Week, catering to all skin types and tones. Highlighted products featured M·A·C’s Locked Kiss Ink 24Hr Lipstick and Chestnut Lip Liner, providing students with valuable tools for their next interviews or professional events.
